A small Wallonian municipality in the Belgian province of Hainaut, Merbes-le-Château sits along the water and holds a concentration of historic churches notable for a town of its size. The surrounding area includes vineyards, and the wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites. The municipality takes in four districts: Fontaine-Valmont, Labuissière, Merbes-le-Château, and Merbes-Sainte-Marie.
