Cannero Riviera
Verbano-Cusio-Ossola · Italy
A particularly photogenic village on the western shore of Lago Maggiore in Piedmont, with an unusual concentration of cafés, restaurants, and churches for its size, and scenic viewpoints in the surrounding hills. The 19th-century politician Massimo D'Azeglio spent his final years at his villa here. Just offshore, the Castelli di Cannero — little islands belonging to the neighbouring municipality of Cannobio — are the northernmost Italian islands on the lake.
