A small Bulgarian town where the Vit river runs through a valley ringed by five named peaks — Haydushka Polyana, Petrahilya, Treskavetс, Ostrich, and Cherven — in the foothills of the Balkan mountains. Teteven, in Lovech Province, combines river access with mountain terrain and preserves National Revival-era architecture alongside natural landmarks across all seasons. The 19th-century writer Ivan Vazov, visiting the town, declared he had never seen a more wondrous place.
