Pravets
Bulgaria
Birthplace of Todor Zhivkov, who led Communist Bulgaria from 1956 to 1989, Pravets is a modest town in Sofia Province with an unexpected technological footnote: Bulgaria's first personal computers were manufactured here and took the town's name. Today it is home to a luxury golf resort and sits beside an artificial lake used for fishing and recreation, with the Balkan Mountains close by and Sofia roughly an hour's drive away.
