Moritzburg
Germany
The Baroque hunting castle Schloss Moritzburg is the centrepiece of this tiny Saxon town between Meissen and Dresden, set on a lake and reached by a narrow-gauge railway running since 1884. The artist Käthe Kollwitz spent her final months here in 1944–45, and a tiny museum in the Rüdenhof marks the house where she died. The Saxon state stud has operated in the town since 1828.
