Radebeul

Meißen · Germany

A wine-growing town in the Elbe valley between Dresden and Meissen, Radebeul is sometimes called the "Nice of Saxony" — a nickname traced to a remark by the Saxon king Johann around 1860 — for its mild climate and vine-covered slopes. The town is also home to a museum dedicated to Karl May, the novelist who created Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, and a narrow-gauge railway running to Moritzburg Castle and the town of Radeburg.
