Mizunami, a town in Gifu Prefecture in central Japan, is known for Mino ware ceramics, its post-town history along the old Nakasendo highway, and fossil discoveries. In 1995, the Inatsu Town Planning Association produced what was then recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest ceramic plate, measuring just under three metres across — a record rooted in the town's long ceramic-making tradition.
