Tiny town in southern France's Tarn department at the foot of the Montagne Noire massif, Mazamet sits within the Haut-Languedoc regional nature park, roughly midway between Toulouse and Béziers. The surrounding uplands offer scenic viewpoints, and the town centre has a modest café and restaurant scene. For a century and a half, Mazamet's economy ran on wool-stripping and tanning industries — a history that shaped its character and earned it the nickname "Ville aux 3 Abeilles."
