A medieval village on the Jaur river in southern France's Hérault, Olargues sits within the Haut-Languedoc regional nature park and carries a listing among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. The village has Roman, Vandal, and Visigoth layers in its history, with the Jaur valley coming under the authority of the Viscounts of Minerve at the end of the 11th century. Surrounding wine country and scenic viewpoints in the wider park make it a base for exploring this part of Occitanie.
