A small town on the Mahurangi River in Auckland Region's north, Warkworth has a café and restaurant scene that is unusually rich for its size. Founded in 1853, it grew around timber milling and shipbuilding before becoming a rural service hub. The town is now expanding rapidly, with projections suggesting it could grow several times over in the coming decades.
