Turhal is a city in Turkey's Tokat Province, set on a fertile plain along the Yeşil Irmak river in the Black Sea region. It is best known for its sugar beet processing plant, established in 1934 as a significant early enterprise of the Turkish Republic. The Yeşil Irmak runs through the city, and the surrounding terrain rises toward nearby mountains.
