A Slovenian mining town in the Central Sava Valley known as the birthplace of Laibach, the industrial music group, Trbovlje sits along the Sava River in mountain terrain with a compact centre. Its industrial past left a visible mark on the landscape, including what the local sources describe as Europe's tallest chimney stack, a 360-metre structure from the former thermal power plant. Vineyards and scenic viewpoints lie in the surrounding hills.
