Sartène
Corse-du-Sud · France
A small sub-prefecture in southern Corsica's Corse-du-Sud department, Sartène is an inland granite town with valley views and a café and restaurant scene strong for its size. Early 16th-century granite buildings line several streets, and the town's wine has a following among connoisseurs. Its history includes a 1583 pirate raid from Algiers that carried off some 400 people, with similar attacks continuing into the 18th century.
