Porthmadog
TLL32 · United Kingdom
This pocket-sized coastal town in Gwynedd, Wales, Porthmadog grew in the 19th century as a slate port on the Glaslyn estuary, and its surviving wharves now shelter leisure yachts. Close to Snowdonia National Park and served by the Ffestiniog Railway, it has a café and restaurant scene that outpaces the town's size, with mountain terrain on one side and a photographed harbour on the other. Over 65% of residents speak Welsh.
