This tiny village in the Vale of Ffestiniog within Snowdonia National Park, Maentwrog sits alongside the River Dwyryd with the Moelwyn Bach mountains to the north and Llyn Trawsfynydd to the south. Historically, it marked the furthest point upriver that sizeable boats could reach on the Dwyryd. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
