Coastal town on the Mediterranean shore of Granada province, Motril sits at the southernmost point of the province with the Sierra Nevada visible inland and a working port — commercial, fishing, and recreational — separated from the main settlement by the Guadalfeo delta. The centre has a walkable food-and-drink scene and a concentration of historic churches, while ferry connections to North Africa give the port an international dimension beyond its size.
