Morbier, a village in the Jura mountains of eastern France, lent its name to the cheese produced across the wider Jura region and was, alongside Morez, the centre of Comtoise clock production from the late 17th century through to 1920 — a tradition traced to the Mayet brothers' first clocks in the 1660s. Part of the Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park, the village also has a Nordic ski area and sits within a wider region ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
