Baume-les-Messieurs
Jura · France
This small hamlet in eastern France's Jura department, Baume-les-Messieurs sits at the heart of the Reculée de Baume — the most extensive of the Jura escarpment's steephead valleys — almost entirely enclosed by limestone cliffs. The former Baume Abbey dominates the village, and guided tours run through both the abbey and the nearby Dard caves. The GR 59 long-distance footpath passes through, and the hamlet holds membership in Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
