Claimed as the world's largest olive oil producing city, Martos sits below the dramatic rock outcrop known as the Peña de Martos in Andalusia's Jaén province, and even has its own olive variety, the marteña. The old town, declared a protected historic-artistic ensemble, climbs through narrow, winding streets toward the peña, while the wider centre holds a concentration of churches and cafés. Semana Santa here carries official recognition as a Festival of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia.
