Kenitra
Province de Kenitra · Morocco
Port city on the Sebou River in northwestern Morocco, Kenitra has a walkable centre with a dense café and restaurant scene shaped partly by French colonial-era architecture, traces of which remain visible today. During the Cold War, a US Naval Air Station operated here, and remnants of that American presence — including a tomb at the Kasbah of Mehdia — can still be found. The city sits a short distance north of Rabat, with UNESCO World Heritage sites in the wider region.
