La Parranda de San Pedro, a festivity recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, originates in this city in Miranda State, Venezuela, east of Caracas. Guatire sits within mountain valleys close to the Caribbean coast, separated from the shoreline by the Cordillera de la Costa and the Waraira Repano national park. The city has merged with neighboring Guarenas into a single conurbation, and its historic centre holds a mural made from bottle caps that set a Guinness World Record in 2022.
