Gospić

Croatia

Gospić, the administrative seat of Lika-Senj County in Croatia's Lika region, took shape as a town during the Military Frontier period in the early 18th century and is the birthplace of Nikola Tesla — commemorated at the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre in nearby Smiljan — and of Ante Starčević, a foundational figure in Croatian political history. The surrounding area includes Paklenica National Park and the Velebit Nature Park, with the rivers Lika, Novčica, and Bogdanica running through the wider landscape.
