Sitting at the confluence of the Dender and Scheldt rivers in East Flanders, Dendermonde is a Belgian town with a walkable, café-lined centre, a concentration of historic churches, and strong photographic appeal along the waterfront. The town has a long-standing folkloric tradition — including the Ros Beiaard and a cast of guild giants — and a medieval rivalry with nearby Aalst. It sits within easy reach of Ghent, Mechelen, and Brussels.
