Château-Chalon
Jura · France
Vin jaune — the prized yellow wine of the Jura — reaches its most celebrated expression in Château-Chalon, a little cliff-top village in eastern France whose surrounding vineyards hold their own AOC designation. The village sits on a sheer rock face in the first fold of the Jura mountains, accessed by a winding road of hairpin curves, and is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. A handful of cafés and restaurants serve the village despite its tiny size.
