Cariati
Cosenza · Italy
Cariati, on Calabria's Ionian coast, is a pocket-sized southern Italian town divided between a hilltop historic centre and a marina district along the shore. Its upper town is enclosed by a medieval circuit of walls — the only fully intact example in all of Calabria — running for roughly a kilometre and punctuated by eight ancient towers, with the co-cathedral of San Michele Arcangelo inside.
