Burgh-Haamstede
Netherlands
Seaside village on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland in Zeeland, Burgh-Haamstede draws visitors to its North Sea beaches from April through October. The European long-distance walking route E9 — which follows the Dutch North Sea Path — passes through the village, and a nearby lighthouse was once depicted on the 250-guilder banknote. The settlement is actually two distinct villages, Burgh to the south and Haamstede to the north, with a tiny central core of cafés and restaurants.
