Iraq

A farming town in Iraq's Saladin Governorate, north of Baghdad, where grape, date, and citrus cultivation shapes the local economy. Its compact centre holds a concentration of cafés and restaurants. In late 2014, the town withstood a siege by Islamic State forces, repelled by local residents and the Iraqi Army.
