This provincial capital in Morocco's Atlas Mountains, Azilal serves as the gateway to the M'Goun Conservation Area and sits between the Middle and High Atlas ranges. The town's name means "summit of the heights" in Tamazight, and the surrounding province is known for archaeological finds, traditional crafts, and manuscripts. A compact centre with cafés and restaurants makes it a practical base for exploring the mountain terrain nearby.
