Anghiari

Arezzo · Italy

A particularly photogenic hill village in Tuscany's Arezzo province, Anghiari has an unusual concentration of churches and cafés for its size, along with scenic viewpoints over the surrounding countryside. The village is listed among I Borghi più belli d'Italia — Italy's most beautiful villages — and is known historically as the site of the 1440 Battle of Anghiari, in which a Florentine-led coalition defeated the forces of Milan's Visconti duke.
