Abondance
Haute-Savoie · France
Abondance, a tiny Alpine village in Haute-Savoie just south of Lake Geneva, lends its name to both a regional cheese and the breed of cattle whose milk produces it. A 14th-century abbey anchors the village centre, and a Sunday morning market serves the surrounding valley. In winter, the L'Essert ski area offers downhill and cross-country trails; summer brings walking and outdoor activities. For its size, the village has a solid spread of cafés, restaurants, and hotels.
