Zdiar
Slovakia
Mountain village in northern Slovakia's Poprad District, Ždiar sits in a valley between the Belianske Tatry and Spišská Magura ranges, close to the Polish border. The village preserves traditional Goral folk architecture in its Antošovský vrch and Blaščatská dolina quarters, along with distinctive regional costumes decorated with plant and animal motifs. An annual Goral folklore festival brings Slovak and Polish dance ensembles together to perform traditional songs, dances, and customs. The Biely potok stream runs through the village, and a handful of cafés and restaurants serve the area.
