Yongchun White Crane Kung Fu, a martial art founded in the 17th century, traces its origins to this county in western Quanzhou, Fujian province, which remains the style's ancestral centre. The county also holds the Dongguan Bridge, a covered bridge originally built in 1145 with shrines inside, and a Mazu temple established in 2011 with ties to a celebrated Taiwanese counterpart in Xingang. Many overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia count Yongchun among their ancestral roots.
