Yawatahama
Japan
A port town on the western tip of Ehime Prefecture in Shikoku, Yawatahama has long been a trading hub — once nicknamed "the Osaka of Iyo" for its sea commerce with Kyushu and the Kansai region. Today its harbour, one of the busiest in western Japan, draws ferry traffic and early-morning fish-market activity at the Doya Market, while the surrounding hillsides support some of the country's most productive mikan citrus groves.
