A gateway town to the Chartreuse Mountains in southeastern France, Voiron sits at the foot of the range with a walkable centre full of cafés and restaurants, vineyards in the surrounding area, and easy access to winter sports. Historically the seat of the county of Sermorens and long a frontier between the Dauphiné and Savoy, the town also lies close to the Grande Chartreuse monastery and Lac de Paladru.
