Virgen
Austria
A mountain village in the Virgen valley of east Tyrol, set within the High Tauern National Park and repeatedly recognised as the most beautiful municipality in Tyrol. Copper mining here dates to around 500 BC, and the area was among the first in the region to establish a Christian parish. Agriculture and tourism both shape the local economy today, and the surrounding national park terrain offers scenic viewpoints and strong photographic appeal.
