Small village in western Cantabria, on the estuary of the River Deva at the Asturian border, Unquera is known across Spain for its pies and serves as the main gateway to the Hermida gorge and the Liébana district beyond. The route through town is part of the Camino Lebaniego, linking the northern and French Camino de Santiago pilgrimage routes, and the wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
