Regional hub in British Columbia's Skeena valley where the Kitsumkalum River meets the Skeena, Terrace sits close to mountains with cafés and restaurants concentrated in a compact centre. Founded in 1927 on Tsimshian territory, the town grew around the timber industry before shifting to a service economy, and today serves as the main transport junction on Highway 16 between the Prairies and the port of Prince Rupert.
