Founded in 1551 around natural hot springs in the state of Querétaro, Tequisquiapan is a colonial town with cobblestone streets, wrought iron fixtures, and a compact centre with a real café and restaurant scene. It holds Pueblo Mágico designation and sits on Querétaro's Ruta de Vino wine route, hosting an annual National Cheese and Wine Fair. The town is a well-established weekend destination for residents of Querétaro city and Mexico City alike.
