Taunsa
Pakistan
A Punjab town on the bank of the Indus River, Taunsa is home to the Taunsa Barrage, a significant irrigation structure a short distance to the south. The town sits along the Indus Highway connecting Karachi to Peshawar, and its agricultural economy is shaped by the river running alongside it. Primarily Saraiki-speaking, it was formerly known as Sanghar before being renamed in 1951.
