Taraklı district
Sakarya · Türkiye
The Yunus Pasha Mosque, built in 1517 by Mimar Sinan and heated from below by steam from an adjacent bathhouse, anchors this small Ottoman-era town in Sakarya Province, roughly midway between Istanbul and Ankara. Taraklı's cobblestone streets are lined with Ottoman architecture that has been extensively restored, and a local bazaar sells handmade wooden combs and spoons. Nearby thermal springs, the Karagöl Plateau, and Hark Canyon and Cave extend the reasons to linger.
