Szekszárd
Tolna · Hungary
Wine country defines Szekszárd, a little city in southern Hungary and the county capital of Tolna, where the surrounding hills hold around 4,500 wine cellars and the local wine region has shaped the town's identity for centuries. King Béla I founded a Benedictine abbey here in 1061, and the Hungarian poet Mihály Babits was born in the city. The walkable centre has a good spread of cafés and restaurants.
