Compact town in western Poland with cafés and restaurants concentrated around its central square, Szamotuły sits on the Sama River in the Greater Poland lake district, roughly a short drive northwest of Poznań. Chartered in 1383 as a private noble town, it serves today as the seat of Szamotuły County and has a Tourist Information Centre on the main square for visitors exploring the wider Wielkopolska region.
