Staro Konjarevo sits at the meeting point of the three historical parts of the Macedonian region — Vardar, Aegean, and Pirin Macedonia — making it the easternmost inhabited settlement in North Macedonia, right on the edge of the Bulgarian border. This compact village in the Municipality of Novo Selo, near Strumica, occupies a geographically singular position for anyone interested in the layered borders and regional divisions of the southern Balkans.
