Slocan
Slocan · Canada
A small waterfront hamlet in British Columbia's West Kootenay region, Slocan sits at the foot of Slocan Lake where Springer Creek meets the water, with mountains close by. A former steamboat landing and ferry terminal, it takes its name from a Kutenai word meaning "to pierce the skull," a reference to a traditional salmon-fishing method. Highway 6 connects it to the wider region.
