Town on the Warta river in central Poland with a compact centre of cafés and restaurants, Sieradz carries a long medieval history: it served three times as the site of Polish royal elections and was the seat of the Duchy of Sieradz from 1263 to 1339, then capital of the Sieradz Voivodeship for several centuries after. One of the oldest cities in Poland, it sits on the Route of the Heroes of the Battle of Warsaw 1920.
