Shigar

Pakistan

Shigar, in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region, serves as the gateway to the Karakoram range via the Shigar Valley, with K2 and four other eight-thousanders accessible from here. The town sits on the Shigar River, is home to the Balti people of Tibetan descent, and holds historical buildings associated with several communities. Natural hot springs lie within the wider district, and the surrounding mountains draw climbers from around the world.
