Sharow
United Kingdom
A small village just north-east of Ripon in North Yorkshire, Sharow is home to St John's Church, whose two-acre churchyard has been managed as a wildlife habitat since 1992 and holds a range of rare plants, animals, and insects — earning the church Eco-Status in 2017. The remains of Sharow Cross, a grade II* listed sanctuary cross marking the historic boundary of Ripon's monastic sanctuary, stand in the village and serve as a trailhead for the Sanctuary Way Walk.
