Shahabad, a town in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district, is associated with the nawabs of Rampur — most notably Hamid Ali Shah, credited as the first nawab of Rampur, who established the settlement. An 18th-century palace known as the Kothi, built by the nawabs, survives in the town and represents its main heritage draw. The town has a mixed Hindu and Muslim population and sits within walking distance of water.
