Seyitgazi, a compact town in Eskişehir Province, takes its name from Battal Gazi, a warrior who fell in battle during the Arab campaigns to spread Islam into Anatolia against the Byzantine Empire. Known in antiquity as Nakoleia, the town is today an important site for Alevi Muslims in Anatolia. It sits a short drive south of Eskişehir, close to mountains and within walking distance of water.
