Serang

Indonesia

The provincial capital of Banten on Java's northwestern coast, Serang sits along Banten Bay and the Java Sea, with the historically significant site of Old Banten — after which the province is named — lying within its northern Kasemen District. The city serves as a cultural centre for both Sundanese and Javanese communities and retains remnants of the Banten Sultanate's former prominence. A toll road and rail line connect it to Jakarta, a short distance to the east.
